Love Connection: Works from the UMPRUM Visual Arts Master’s program

This exhibition presents the work of students who are pursuing their Master’s degrees at UMPRUM and seeks to explore the underlying motivations for its creation, specifically the role that love plays in that pursuit.

The visual arts, in particular, are well-suited to expressing a love of visual phenomena like line and colour. Often, however, the love of more abstract concepts may also motivate the creation of visual art: love for freedom, for justice or for sensibilities like wonder and whimsy may play this role. This exhibition, then, aims to investigate and reflect on the various types of love that are manifest in the work of the exhibited students.

Towards that end, this exhibition employs a conceptual approach that seeks to create a dialogue between the exhibited students which will manifest in a series of call-and-response artworks that reflect on the question “What do you love?”
