An exhibition combining art and nature conservation will take place from November 4th to 15th at A.0 Cirkulární hub.
The Bird Traps exhibition with an environmental focus, organized by the Prague City Hall and the Czech Coalition for Biodiversity Conservation (CCBC) in collaboration with the Czech Society for Ornithology (CSO), features photographs by Stanislav Honzík and is part of an awareness campaign of the same name that highlights the issue of unnecessary bird deaths.
It will be complemented by sketches of bird costumes by Jana Smetanová, created earlier for the project's emotional video, and an exhibition by painter Kateřina Štenclová showcasing transparent paintings on glass surfaces. A workshop will be available for school groups, where they can create decals to protect birds from deadly window collisions.
"Through art, we want to remind the Czech public how each of us can help birds. Whether by covering pools where birds often drown, applying reflective stickers to prevent glass collisions, or feeding them correctly," adds Kristýna Nováková, director of the CCBC and guarantor of the Bird Traps project.
The exhibition runs from November 4th to 15th at the A.0 Cirkulární hub.
Film photographer Stanislav Honzík, who has captured hundreds of world-class actors and collaborated with international film productions, will present a series of images created during the filming of the Bird Traps campaign video as well as in the studio.
Painter Kateřina Štenclová focuses on abstract painting, but also strives to raise awareness about the importance of applying decals to glass surfaces in public spaces to prevent them from being deadly to birds. Štenclová is the author of the artistic design for parts of the Nádraží Krč surface metro station on the planned Line D, which will also be on display. In her design, the artist takes into account that the station's transparent tube extends into a migratory corridor for birds. Transparent paintings on glass play a crucial role in protecting birds from fatal collisions with glass surfaces.
During the morning hours, the exhibition will also feature workshops for schools, where students will meet with an ornithologist and an artist from the U studánky poznání center, who will help them create their own decals. Workshop participants can form a team and install a decal together on one surface, or work individually at home. It is important to remember, however, that a single sticker is not enough.
