The open call for the new HYB4 Art Studios residency program generated significant interest. Twenty-seven individuals and collectives from various artistic disciplines applied, ranging from visual arts, audiovisual and performance work to experimental cross-media projects. An expert committee selected nine whose work stood out for its quality, originality, and clarity of artistic vision.
HYB4 Galerie of Kampus Hybernská opened in 2017 and has since become a prominent venue for contemporary art in Prague. For its year-round independent program of exhibitions and lectures, it received the prestigious VIZIUM 2025 award from the Czech Academy of Visual Arts in the Institution category for its contribution to the development of contemporary visual culture.
Now comes the next step: the spaces that once hosted exhibitions by Milan Knížák, Milan Kunc, and Kamila Ženatá are being transformed into studios for the contemporary art scene.
When we launched the first HYB4 Art Studios call, we weren't sure how the scene would react. However, twenty-seven applications from various fields and approaches confirmed that our plan to offer studios to artists in the center of Prague was the right one. Behind every application was a body of work, the courage to open up to an outside perspective, and a clearly formulated vision. The expert committee reviewed each application with equal seriousness and selected nine of them.
The selected artists and collectives are: Adéla Holešová; Viktoriia Tymonova; Jan Vytiska; the collective Jan Slanina, Jura Piršč, Matěj Janák; Monika Collective (Matyáš Grimmich, Karolína Schön, Anna Chrtková); Paul Tuttas + Laura Hédervári; Phila Primus; Jitka Petrášová + Dominic Hafner and Open Studios Art Hub.
"We appreciate all the applications we received during the selection process. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the artists who applied," says Ema Pospíšilová, Director of Kampus Hybernská, z. ú.
"The committee treated every application with equal seriousness. We hope to meet many of the applicants through our exhibition program or other Kampus activities," adds Michal Štochl, producer at HYB4 Gallery.
The interest generated by the open call is a testament to the vibrancy of the Czech art scene.
Selected artists work at Kampus Hybernská, where they have access to a private studio, shared spaces, curatorial support, mentoring, and the opportunity to participate in the exhibition and accompanying program.
Taking place in the autumn will be Open Studios Day, where you can get a direct look into the creative process of all participating artists and collectives. Meeting with the scientific, educational, and creative communities of Kampus is a natural part of the program. Over the next two years, we are planning joint presentations and other collaborative program.
We see HYB4 Art Studios as a natural step in building a cultural environment that connects art, education, and collaboration.

The C.0 HYB4 Galerie is currently hosting an exhibition by Aleš Novák PENDLER- A Stranded Romantic from the Jizera Mountains.
Starting June 12, we will follow up with an exhibition by Jan Vytiska The village you really shouldn't have gone to. Vytiska is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Czech painting. His works create a mythological world filled with characters, rituals, and symbols, where local folklore blends with the language of contemporary painting.
The opening reception will take place on June 11 at 6:00 PM. Admission is voluntary.
