The new season at Kampus Hybernská kicks off on Thursday, October 1st, marking the start of another academic year. The afternoon and evening program is designed primarily for Charles University students returning after the break, as well as for those visiting the campus for the first time to explore its spaces and activities. Come meet people from both inside and outside the university, peek into the open HYB4 Art Studios, stop by the exhibition at the HYB4 Gallery, or choose from a program featuring a Welcome Day for Ph.D. students, a Pub Quiz, a live podcast recording, and an evening music lineup with the bands Treska jednoskvrnná, Pexeso, Hobluj, and DJ AVHD.
The afternoon program begins at 2:00 PM with Welcome Day for Ph.D. students. A 4EU+ network booth will be available in the foyer, where you can learn more about cooperation between European universities and participate in accompanying competitions. From 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the Charles University Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer (CPPT) will be presenting its work. The afternoon will also feature a creative workshop SH feat. Gratis Market, Oasis of Calm for a moment of relaxation, and a space for networking with student organizations.
The afternoon program will also include open studios at HYB4 Art Studios, where you can get a firsthand look at the residents' creative process. At the same time, the C.0 HYB4 Gallery will be hosting the exhibition Third Landscape by painter Vladimír Houdek, curated by Filip Kazda. The central motif of the new series is a lonely wanderer with a head transformed into a celestial body, moving between the past, the present, and visions of the future.
In Jan Čejka Gallery you can see the nature-figurative exhibition A Sight for Sore Eyes, featuring works by Josef Bolf, Tomáš Honz, Jan Knap, Michal Nagypál, Kristína Navrátil, and Dagmar Šubrtová, with accompanying texts by Václav Cílek, Petr Antonín Nedoma, and Karel Stibral. The exhibition explores what the concept of paradise looks like today and is part of the Ecological Days Olomouc (EDO 2026) festival program.
From 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the Campus will host a live recording of the podcast Vládneme, nerušit and the official ONB certificate award ceremony. Between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, you can join the Pub Quiz.
Starting at 6:00 PM, there will be the grand opening of the new season with an introductory speech.
From 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, Treska jednoskvrnnáwill perform—a five-piece band from the cellars of Prague's Vinohrady district that blends alternative rock with pop, unconventional lyrics with local detours, and energetic riffs with playfulness. Then, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, the band Hobluj.
The music program will also take place in other areas of the Campus. From 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, we will feature CU Student Clubs, the student organizations of Charles University. Between 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM, the band Pexeso will perform. They are a Prague-based indie dance band that builds on dance grooves inspired by electronic music while maintaining a live instrumental sound. They recently released their debut single, Do It Better.
The evening will conclude from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM with DJ AVHD, one of the rising figures in Prague's underground electronic scene. In their sets, they blend techno and trance with bass, electro, breaks, and dubstep, while also incorporating influences from Latin American, Indian, and Middle Eastern music. In addition to DJing, they are behind the community platform Kitchen Collective, which supports artists in the Prague electronic scene.
"The start of the semester is a natural moment for the Campus to come together. We want to welcome those who are returning as well as those who are just discovering the Campus, and offer them a space where they can meet others and start the new semester together," says Ema Pospíšilová, Director of Kampus Hybernská, z. ú.
