Between consciousness and the unconscious: April's lectures will take you deeper into the world of Sigmund Freud

The HYB4 Galerie Spring Lecture Series, organized to mark the 170th anniversary of the birth of the renowned psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, offers a unique opportunity to explore the world of psychoanalysis from various perspectives, ranging from clinical practice to the visual arts.

We perceive Freud's ideas differently today than in the past, which makes it all the more interesting to see how strongly they still resonate. They influence not only psychology but also the way we think about ourselves, others, and the world around us.

Two lectures in March opened up fundamental questions about contemporary psychoanalysis and the relationship between dreams, reality, and art. They served as a reminder that what we think we know about Freud may only be the beginning.

We continue in April – come and join us for:

In April, the series will build on the themes from March. Each lecture offers a different perspective, and together they create a unique space for reflection, sharing, and inspiration.

April 7 Michaela Vrchotová: Toyen: Morality Sleeps Safely Only in the Arms of Pleasure

How do we depict desire, the body, and the unconscious? This lecture dedicated to Toyen will reveal the fascinating world of surrealism, where reality dissolves and images on the edge of dreams and experience take over.

April 14 Jakub Kuchař: The Unconscious, the Therapeutic Relationship, and AI

Can artificial intelligence enter a space previously reserved for human connection? How is psychotherapy changing in the age of chatbots and digital confidants? A timely and provocative topic that raises new questions about trust, knowledge, and the unconscious.

April 21 Peter Pöthe: Freud in the Child Psychotherapist's Office

How can we understand the child's psyche in today's complex world? This lecture will offer both a sensitive and professional perspective on what Freud's theories mean in the practice of working with children, and what, conversely, remains open to interpretation.

April 28 Slavoj Titl: Dreams – The Royal Road to the Unconscious

Why do dreams sometimes unsettle us, fascinate us at other times, and always have something to say? This final lecture will guide you through the world of dreams as a key to a deeper understanding of ourselves and others.

The S. Freud | 170 lecture series is curated and hosted by Kamila Ženatá.

The lectures are ticketed; you can reserve your spot via the GoOut platform.

The lectures will take place at the A.0 Circulární Hub in Kampus Hybernská, always starting at 6:30 PM.
