Although most people in Czechia and Germany are aware that the climate crisis is a fundamental problem, the current public debate in both countries is dominated by issues of economic prosperity and security. Another challenge for climate journalists lies in the very fact that climate change is a rather abstract and long-term problem and therefore does not fit well into the current fast–paced media world.
How can journalists report on climate change in an accessible and appealing way while still drawing on scientific data and conveying the complexity of the issue? What are the differences between the public debate on climate change in Czechia and Germany? And how is climate journalism doing in both countries?
The event is part of the Czech – German Climate Dialogue initiated by the German Embassy Prague.
