This time, we’ll focus on a skill that many grandmothers had, but few of us do: mending clothes. And we’ll do it in a way that’s visible! “Visible mending” isn’t a single specific technique, but rather a variety of methods for patching or sewing up. It can transition into embroidery or draw inspiration from the Japanese sashiko technique. This upcycling project builds on our previous fabric-dyeing workshop—if you have a piece of sturdy, dyed fabric, bring it along. It can be used as a contrasting patch.
