This project combines visual and verbal art — collages, poetry and prose, and is a symbol of trauma of emigration. This trauma paralyzes us, locks us in immobility, and leads to the loss of self. The outside (European) world forgets us, and we in turn forget ourselves. This project talks about memory, linguistics, space travel, the boundaries of gaps and the gaps of boundaries — about everything that comes and that we lose.

Anna Zikratskaya is a Czech poet and a Belarusian émigré. Her texts were published, among others, in A2, Host, Revue Prostor, Tvar and Verbež. In 2025 she received the Vladimír Vokolek Literary Prize.

She left Belarus in 2021 for political reasons and hasn’t been there since.

In her writing she focuses on themes of emptiness, gaps and the art of losing.

All her life she dreamed of becoming an astronaut.
